Ski Holidays

Fairlie is a great location to base yourself for a skiing holiday and is a must-stop location for ski tours.

Local Facilities

There are skis, snowboard, chains, clothing and other equipment for sale and hire at the Ski Shack in the shopping area.

The BP garage sells and hires snow chains.  Chains need to be carried on all alpine roads in winter.

The winter snow season begins around the July 1st and goes through to mid-October.

Mt Dobson Ski Area

Mt Dobson Ski Area is a commercial ski area with a triple chair lift, t-bar and a massive learners area serviced by a platter lift and a rope tow.

Mt Dobson is open 7 days, weather permitting.  Operating hours are: 9am til 4pm daily.

Roundhill Ski Field

Roundhill Ski Field has a t-bar, learner's platter, and new for 2010 is the Heritage Express Rope Tow opening up the huge advanced skiing area on the Two Thumb Range.

Roundhill is a one-hour drive from Fairlie.  Follow the highway to Lake Tekapo and take the right hand turn into Lilybank Road just before you get to the Lake Tekapo township.

Fox Peak Club Field

Fox Peak is a club-owned and operated ski field that is open on weekends and school holidays during the ski season.  Fox Peak has four rope tows and a huge, uncrowded ski area.

The Fox Peak access road is 19kms up Clayton Road, just outside Fairlie towards Geraldine.
